Day Six: Pizza and Literature
Today I went into Classic City with high hopes of atlas one student needing my help. When I walked into the room Mrs. Mimi had ordered pizza for Mrs. Johns 3rd period class. She told them before serving pizza that she wanted to do this for them because there all doing so well. The kids took about 20 minutes to eat their pizza and then they got to work. One of the regular students I work with were in class today. Right in the beginning of class he looked at me and said "Ive got a assessment, and I need your help. If I have a question you got me right". I laughed and told him that wouldn't be a problem. Shortly into the class period he turned around and asked me to help him. We worked on the assessment, more specifically on the questions that he got wrong. Mrs. Johns told us which questions needed to be looked at and we went back over them. There were mistakes with grammar questions and reading and comprehension questions. In addition there were questions he got wrong about a topic that I've never been taught before. However, we managed to work together and figure out how to answer the questions correctly. I decided to stay again into 4th period. However, no students asked for my help. Mrs. Johns felt bad but she reassured me that she can't force the student to work with the UGA tutors. The student have to ask for help in order to receive it. I've noticed that the time in the classroom goes by a lot faster when I am engaged with the students helping them with their assignments. I always get so bored when I'm not engaged with helping them. However, I always enjoy when they have questions and I have the chance to test my abilities of my knowledge and teaching skills.
